Toshiba has added two new widescreen laptops to its range with the introduction of Satellite L500 and Satellite L550. Both machines are equipped with a choice of either an Intel Celeron / Pentium / Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon / Turion processor, a 500GB hard drive, a DVD burner, a VGA web camera supporting Toshiba’s Face Recognition software, an HDMI port, a 4-in-1 Bridge Media slot, two USB 2.0 ports, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet and an additional eSATA/USB combo port. The main difference is that the L500 only comes with a 15.6-inch HD TruBrite display with 1366 x 768 resolution, meanwhile, the L550 offers a bigger 17.3-inch HD TruBrite display with power saving LED backlight technology, and a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. Both systems will be available in the third quarter of 2009 throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa.
